Tuscan Whimsy – Project
Published March 21, 2010 at 2:57 pmIn 2006 the Rouge River Group renovated the kitchen, dining, living, bedroom and office, shortly after our client visited Italy. At the core of the concept was her passion for vibrant colors and her love of the ravine, for which she bought the house.
After the wet spring of 2009, the ravine slumped away from the house, requiring us to reengineer the foundation of the dining room.
Client’s testimonial:
This was a wonderful project. I had just purchased an old house with charm and potential; but some rooms were dark. I wanted to find some way to bring the outside in. Also, there were some bad, structural cracks. From our first meeting, Tim was enthusiastic. He explained how they could fix the structural defects and asked me to describe the atmosphere that I most wanted to create. Working with such a receptive designer is both a pleasure and a great satisfaction. I had been to Italy and love Tuscany. His designers and tradesmen worked together with me to transform the place in ways that I, frankly, could never have imagined to be possible. Now the sun pours through. The kitchen is open and convenient. I love to entertain. They designed special built-ins for my books and computer. By moving a wall and a door between the kitchen and laundry they gave me new space I needed, and the new layout makes the whole floor plan flow from one room to the next. I’m still thrilled.
